First off, some answers I had to Margaret's questions after reading the first bit, would probably help out:
Australearn = one of many programs that people Study Abroad through. these programs organize study abroad applications and take their students on orientation trips doing cool stuff before the semester starts. a lot of the kids do them, and so have a bunch of friends/people they already know when they get to school.
My roommates are: Brad, Sam (Samy, Samantha), and Meghan. Brad is from NYC and goes to GW, Sam is from Chicago and goes to Duke, and Meghan is from just outside DC and goes to VCU (Virginia Commonwealth).
Other useful names that've been mentioned: Shira is a friend of mine from HS who coincidentally happened to be coming to study abroad at UNSW (University of New South Wales, where I'm studying for the semester) as well. Shira happened to be in Australearn with my roommate Meghan. As a result, I have made a bunch of friends that were also in the Australearn program (Kenji, AJ, Colleen, Kyle, Rachel, Brandon, big Sam, Rob, Amy, Liz, Jackie, Kristen...). Alyssa and Danielle (and Katie) are roommates with Rachel. Nira is a close family friend of Shira's from back home (~25?). Liz and Jackie (different Liz and Jackie) (and Amy) are roommates of Shira's. Sarah, Nadine and Sabrina are German exchange students I've met so far (among others). Robyn, Emily, and Ariane are the Aussie girls in my presentation group for PoR (Philosophy of Religion). The rest of the names probably have context but feel free to ask who the heck is ___?
I don't go out every night, though I did for the first week or so. I have been going out quite a bit, but will probably slow down.
I don't do homework. Okay, I've actually done a little bit of reading. Even my math and ELEC classes don't have any weekly HW. there are weekly practice problems but they're not due... you don't have to do them (though i probably should... shit!).
I don't think I'm going to do any extracurriculars officially. The extra-curriculars don't seem as strong here, and yeah, it'd be a pain, and probably not really worth it as opposed to traveling around and various awesomeness.
